Liverpool Hospital Chooses YorPower for Backup Power

22nd July 2019

YorPower recently dispatched a large order for a hospital located in Liverpool. The order comprised a brand new Cummins canopied diesel generator set, an engine water heater, battery charger, installation of cable connection box, a floor standing ATS, pipe installation, full testing and commissioning.

YorPower specialise in providing end-to-end services from initial design to final commissioning of various primary and backup power systems. The hospital we recently supplied our services to is an NHS foundation trust hospital, providing healthcare to over 330,000 residents. The establishment also works with partners in order to provide a wider range of services as part of the Cheshire and Merseyside health and care partnership. The range of services include rheumatology, ophthalmology, alcohol services, respiratory medicine, Maxillofacial and Liver surgery, amongst others.

A hospital is a prime example of when a diesel generator is not just useful but absolutely critical. Hospitals must be able to sustain power in order to sustain life. Electricity is required to keep all machines running, especially life support machines in intensive care units and operating theatres. Hospitals, themselves, are life support systems in times of emergency and general healthcare. When they aren’t working, back up power support systems are deployed.

A full diesel fuel tank allows up to 8 hours of backup power for an entire hospital. Depending on the size of the hospital and the amount of fuel stored, a diesel generator can keep a hospital running for up to 24 hours – which allows reasonable time to find an alternative source/ repair the mains issue. No power means multiple lives at risk with monitors, oxygen masks and other valuable, power dependent equipment cannot go without a backup power source. The additional risk posed by power outages is the loss of communication, not only can valuable data be lost on systems for individual patients, when the phone lines go down, emergency services are compromised.

YorPower are enthusiastic to supply to such prestigious establishments like these that can really take full advantage of our backup power systems in times of emergency. We are proud to support this hospital as they strive to provide the highest quality healthcare possible.
