Garden Centre Chooses YorPower

Dean’s Garden Centre, near York, is a family run business that has been successfully serving gardeners for more than 45 years. The original site, opened in 1968, consisted of a pre-fab building and a single 14 x 60ft greenhouse. Over the years the Centre has developed and grown and now includes a new sales area, large houseplant area, an aquatics centre, outdoor covered area, store and a very popular coffee shop.

The Centre now also includes a nursery where Deans grow their own bedding plants, vegetables and perennials. They also specialise in growing a wide range of cyclamen.

Given the sometimes less than ideal weather conditions for growing and selling all the plants fish and equipment that comprise the range available at Deans it was clear to the owners that they needed an independent power source in case of power cuts.

Following a competitive tender process Deans chose YorPower to provide them with a 180kVA diesel generator with automatic transfer switch to ensure that greenhouse and fish tank heaters, lights, fans and point of sale equipment continue to operate whatever the weather.
